Children of Promise Establishes Endowment

Children of Promise Establishes Endowment
Children of Promise, the international child-sponsorship program for the Church of God recently collaborated with the Church of God Foundation for the development of an Endowment that would support their ministry objectives. Dr. Paul L. Maxfield, Executive Director of Children of Promise, Inc., discussed how he thought an endowment could support this vital ministry of the church, and why they elected to use the services of the Foundation.

"Children of Promise has a desire to establish a long-term support base for the ministry," said Maxfield. "And so the Board of Directors made the decision to open an endowment fund through the Church of God Foundation for several reasons:

     • Children of Promise shares a common mission and intertwined goals with Church of God Ministries in our efforts to support children and further the work of the Church of God around the world through child and leadership development.

     • The Foundations' administrative fee structure is appealing.

     • Ron Blue & Company, the asset management company used by the Foundation is a trusted investor of funds."

Paul Maxfield stated their goals for establishing an endowment with the Foundation were:

     • To provide a way for people to leave gifts and bequests through Children of Promise that will be expressed through perpetual ministry to children in need through the mission of Children of Promise.

     • To provide an expanded financial base for ministry operations.

"The endowment fund and resulting income is intended for financial support of the organization's mission. The partnership in administering the fund provides the expertise and knowledge of experts who can help build the foundation we need. It will provide funds for the use of fulfilling the mission of Children of Promise. It will also provide an avenue through which individuals can continue their spiritual legacy through the ministry of Children of Promise. We are in the beginning stages of establishing our endowment. The CHOG Foundation has been helpful, supportive, and knowledgeable in the process."

Children of Promise, Inc. is an affiliated agency of Church of God Ministries, headquartered in Anderson, Indiana. As the Church of God child sponsorship program, the organization was established to provide financial assistance for programs to aid children in need in ministries of the Church of God outside the United States.
